This Is My Botox
A minimal, consistent approach to caring for my 42-year-old skin
One of the most requested topics I get is my skincare routine, which honestly feels extremely flattering! Especially as my skin is aging. It’s something I’m very minimal about, but also take very seriously…
As I move into my mid-40s, I’ve been finding alternative modalities that truly support the appearance of my skin and face without having to resort to Botox or fillers. No shade at all to Botox or injectables, they’re just not the route I’m choosing to take. I’m a naturalist at heart. I come from a long lineage of women who have had incredible skin and took really good care of it, without relying on procedures or injectables, and I’m hopeful that I can continue that tradition in my own way.
I’ve been getting consistent facials since my early 20s. And while I didn’t do anything particularly “right” in those years, I was a smoker throughout my 20s, living in New York City, drinking a lot and not thinking about my future skin (though I was warned by many) it wasn’t until my 30s that I really began taking my health and the health of my skin, seriously. That’s when I entered the natural beauty world and started to understand that there’s a very real balance to all of this..
I’ll get into the products I use, they’re all very clean, the cleanser is 91% clean.. and my routine is very minimal. But what I really want to share here is what I’ve been doing consistently, because I’m starting to see and feel a noticeable difference. Not only does it feel incredible, but it genuinely feels like my Botox substitution.
Instead of injecting my face, I’m choosing this~
It’s called sculptural facelifting, and I’m so grateful I found it! I have been seeing an incredible woman here in Laguna Beach named Shiloah, and I want to be clear, this isn’t a promo-Anyone who’s been here for a while knows I don’t talk about things because I’m sponsored- I talk about them because I truly believe in them, because I see the difference and because they’re working for me.
This work has done wonders for my face. The work Shiloah does works with the face rather than just on it. It’s a combination of external facial manipulation and intra-oral work. She works inside the mouth and jaw, releasing tension in places most of us don’t even realize we’re holding. And we hold SO much there!
It’s incredibly rejuvenating, but in a very grounded way. It supports circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage and brings life back into the face. I always leave feeling more lifted, more open and genuinely refreshed not just in how my skin looks, but in how my whole face feels.
What’s been most surprising to me is how the effects last. This isn’t an instant glow that disappears by the next morning. With consistency, I’m noticing real changes, my face feels more sculpted, more awake and dare I say snatched?? It feels like maintenance, like care, like something I’m doing with my body rather than trying to override it.
For me, this has become such a beautiful alternative to injectables. It’s hands-on, intentional, and deeply supportive, which is exactly the kind of approach I want as I move through this stage of my life.
I’ve always believed that when we take a natural approach and do something consistently, we create lasting effects. This feels like one of those things that with consistency can truly moves the needle… more shall be revealed!
What I really feel is that I’m learning to embrace my aging skin more gracefully. And I’m deeply grateful for practitioners like Shiloah who offer treatments like this. I’m excited that I found it, and that I get to witness my face and skin literally transform in a way that feels natural to me.
I truly can’t sing its praises enough.
Ok- for all of you who have asked me and have patiently waited for my skincare routine, this is where I share it- what I use daily, with links! And how I support my skin without trying to stop time, but rather work with it..
