Happy Spring Equinox~

Today I am sharing my seasonal favorites with you, starting with a Spring time product I just started using again- it’s not actually a hair product this time, but a whole body product. I first created this recipe during the springtime when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I actually created an entire baby line during that spring, but the one I birthed out into the world most of you know it as the Mama and Baby Oil, that eventually became the Whole Body Oil.

The reason I love this oil so much is not only because I created it while also creating life, but I ended up using it all throughout my pregnancy and postpartum with both of my babies. I love using a cleansing oil on the body because it feels like such a different relationship to cleansing. Most soaps, even really good ones, can be a little stripping. They sometimes leave the skin feeling tight.. A cleansing oil binds to oil, so it helps lift dirt, sweat and buildup from the skin without disrupting your natural barrier. Instead of that dry, tight feeling, your skin feels soft, hydrated and balanced.

I also notice that it supports my skin in a deeper way, especially during seasonal shifts or hormonal changes, when everything can feel a little more sensitive or depleted. It’s one of the easiest ways to add hydration back in without needing a complicated routine, and beyond just the physical benefits, it changes the experience of being in the shower. It slows everything down. It becomes more of a ritual than just washing.. Like you’re not just cleansing your body, but also giving yourself a moment to reset.

I decided to add this back into my daily rituals because here in Southern California, where we’re experiencing 90 degree weeks! Uggghhhh. And my skin needs the extra hydration and TLC..

But lets get back to springtime, sorry this wasn’t supposed to be a love letter to cleansing oil.. However, it is a little love note to Spring because this time of year is my absolute favorite!! I LOVE when all the flowers, plants and herbs are in full bloom and glory. I am so in love with all of the smells right now. I always feel inspired this time of year to create new scents and play with adding them to products I make at home.

Southern California scents that are surrounding me right now- jasmine, lavender, rosemary, and black sage… Depending on where you’re at in the world, take note of what is blooming around you. What are your favorite scents when you are on your daily walks? Maybe try and create a blend that reflects what’s blooming around you, maybe citrus, orange blossom, lemon, bergamot… even jasmine if you want something more floral.

In the recipe I am sharing below, I’m keeping the scent profile really simple. I’m hoping that for those of you who have been making the Jojoba Oil at home, you already have some of what you need on hand. And if not, you can always work with what feels good to you. When creating products, I really encourage you to create something that matches what you’re wanting to call in, or feel connected to. Making products is so intentional and can be medicinal- reflecting where you are and what support you want to call in with our sweet plant allies.

I tend to gravitate toward scents that feel calming and grounding in the shower. It’s such a transitional space- It can either be a place where I’m starting my day or releasing all that I picked up throughout the day. Having something that supports that space in a more therapeutic way feels very important to me.

This time of year, at this moment of Equinox, is such a beautiful moment to pause. Today is in full balance. And I think there’s something really special about taking even a few moments to acknowledge that within you. It doesn’t have to be anything big, it can be as simple as taking your shoes off and standing barefoot on the earth for a few minutes. It can be sitting in the sun and letting the warmth touch the crown of your head. Or taking a moment to sit with a bowl of tea in silence or even simply just slowing down in the shower and allowing that to be a moment where you release anything that came before today. Letting it all wash down the drain… like a nice spring cleansing!

Below, I’m going to share the new version of the Whole Body Oil I have been using. I will also share a recipe for a rustic Spring time cake to share with loved ones, and the tea I have been sitting with daily, that happens to be such a sweet heart opener.

I hope you have a really beautiful season ahead, and I hope that what I share below supports you through this transition. Enjoy~
